About
The Murchie Fieldhouse is a 92,000 square foot structure that is large enough to house a full indoor football field with the ability to kick field goals. It also includes 6,000 feet of rubber track, pole vault pits and softball hitting tunnels as well as equipment storage, offices, restrooms, and meeting spaces for student athletes.
Opened in 2019, construction required unique techniques and close coordination with the client, general contractor, and other specialty contractors. The pre-engineered metal structure was complex, incorporating a 210-foot clear span, insulated wall panels, horizontally installed formed metal wall panels, aluminum composite panels and Kalwall translucent panels.
This facility is an integral part of the expansion of student recreation programming and intramural sports at UB and will also be used for university events.
